Georgia Development Partners, jointly with Batson-Cook Development Company, acquired land for Coweta County Schools and the City of Newnan to create a new park system. The 15 acre Newnan Greenway Connector will include active and passive recreation experiences for Coweta County school children and City residents alike. The park area will provide a nexus for a regional greenway plan and trail projects. The park is uniquely positioned to establish a critical pedestrian linkage system to the adjacent Center for Performing Arts and school children at Newnan Crossing Elementary. The park will have extensive paved pathways, linkage bridge, play area, sunken lawn amphitheater, pavilion, cantilevered creek overlook, and paved parking areas. This project represents a multidisciplinary public/private effort to place purposeful park space in an area currently under-represented with outdoor recreation.
